Nut bread
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Sift all together
Then add 1 cup chopped pecans 1 cup raisins (white ones preferred but the dark ones are ok.) Mix these well in dry ingredients and then add 1 cup sweet milk and 1 egg. Bake in a loaf pan about 1 hour slowly about 275ºF or 300ºF

Gingerbread
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Mix in a bowl 1 egg beaten lightly:
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup dark molasses
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Add flour mixture to bowl, stirring steadily. When well mixed, beat hard for 2 minutes. Turn into 8 inch greased gingerbread pan. Bake in 350ºF oven for 30 minutes.
