- 1 qt sweet milk
- 2 yeast cakes
- 3 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup lard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup lard
Add lard and sugar to milk and bring to a boiling point, let cool. Take 1 cup mixture and add 2 yeast cakes then add 5 cups flour mix and let stand until it rises twice its size. Add 6 cups flour. Put in ice box, use when needed.
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons lard
- 3 cups milk
- 1 yeast cake
- 9 cups flour or enough to make it leave pan.
Mix sugar, salt, lard and pour hot milk over this until dissolved. Let cool until lukewarm. Dissolve yeast cake in a little cold water then add to first mixture then add flour and beat until it bubbles. Then add enough flour to make dough. Let rise 3 times then bake.
- 5 cups flour sifted with 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 12 tablespoons shortening blended with dry ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sour milk into which dissolve 1 yeast cake.
Set in ice box over nice. Cut out and let rise 2 1/2 hours before baking in 500ºF oven.
